The Fifth Annual Re-enactment of an Interfaith Patriotic WWII Military Field Worship Service

Veteran’s Day Recognition
November 12, 2007
2:00 pm

Cawker City Golf Course Park, East of Cawker City on the shores of Waconda Lake

The American Legion Posts 143 of Glen Elder, KS and 379 of Cawker City, KS invite all to a special re-enactment of a WWII Military Field Worship Service Nov 12th 2007 at 2:00 pm.

Mitchell County Kansas has been a long and good supporter of the Veteran’s Day Celebration. This event coupled with the events of Beloit, KS will make this Veteran’s Day celebration in North Central Kansas very special.

A highlight of the Re-enactment will be a special presentation by Command Sergeant Major Lowell May, USA 1959-85, which will enlighten those in attendance about the Cawker City Prisoner of War Camp as well as general information about the 23 POW Camps in Kansas. CSM May recently co-authored a book entitled Prisoners of War in Kansas, 1943-46.

In Beloit:

10:00 am – line up for the Veteran’s Day Parade

11:00 am – Parade

Noon – Free Lunch at VFW Post 6242 Home

At Waconda Lake:

1:45 pm Honoree Color Guards Assemble

2:00 pm Field Worship Service Begins

3:00 pm Free Coffee & Cookies

9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
September 29 and 30 (Saturday and Sunday)

at the Kansas Aviation Museum
3350 S. George Washington Blvd.
Wichita, Kansas

Come see Wichita’s largest collection of locally owned and operated military vehicles, as well as Tornado Alley Young Marines, WWII and Vietnam exhibits, Iwo Jima display, and demonstrations by drill teams and color guards. Registration will be available all day beginning at 8:00 AM.

Display registration is free for vehicle enthusiasts.
Military vendor registration is free but donations are welcome.

Food and military vendors will be available to the public. No alcoholic beverages please. Click here for additional information.

Parade and Display

Please let Judy know if you are wanting to be in the Veterans Day parade and display November 10th, downtown Wichita so she can make out the entry form before October 31st (see attachment below).
