Here are some pictures of the Veterans Day parade today. You couldn’t have asked for weather nicer than today. Everyone met at the Cross’ to unload and have coffee and donuts, brought by the Decker’s. We had 14 members present and 8 vehicles plus the bomb grill. Afterwards we displayed our vehicles in the middle of Douglas in front of Century II where they had singing and messages from the Mayor and others. Diane Warren noticed they didn’t have the flags at half staff, so she told an official and they told the mayor. By golly, the flags were changed. Good show!

What a beautiful day for a parade. We had six vehicles and 12 people in the Arkalalah parade in Arkansas City. Our members were Dave Billings, Crosses, Deckers, Joe Rankin, and Jim Lynne. The parade was about 2 to 3 hours long and Linda and Dave Billings, family and friends provided BBQ ribs and brisket, along with drinks and chips. What great hosts. Thanks everyone!

Chisholm Trail Gun Show
September 16, 2009 · Leave a Comment
We have talked to the Chairman of the gun show at the coliseum, and he welcomes us to display our vehicles. The show will be October 10th, and 11th. But we are to bring our vehicles in on the 9th. He needs to know how many vehicles will be on display and what size area we will need, because there is a limited space. We told him around 4 to 6 vehicles, but we need to know who wants to bring there’s for sure. It will be secured at night and batteries need to be disconnected.
Here we go again, our club meeting will have to wait until further notice. This display will give us a chance to gain members and advertise, because it is a large show.

Eureka Trails
September 7, 2009 · Leave a Comment
What a wonderful day of convoying through the Flint Hills. It looked like it was going to rain and then later the sun came out and the hills were beautiful. We arrived in Eureka around 10 AM and unloaded our vehicles. There were 6 vehicles and 11 members present. President, Dave Billings, led us in the Pledge of Allegiance of the Flag and Gary led us in prayer.
We ate lunch at Cindy’s Copper Kettle where, Cindy, came out and even washed our windows and gave us home made cookies to take with us. Then we left for the hills, through mud, rocks and even cows and wild horses. We stopped at an old school house that the district uses as a fire station, an old Norwegian church and also a stop at Preston Evenson’s farm for a potty break. Then on to Teterville, an old oil town and the highest point of interest, a tall rock overlooking the whole county. What beauty! On the
way back around the Eureka Lake with a stop at the maintenance shop to visit with Willie and Rita Day. Rita went with us on the convoy and Willie helped David with the trail plans.
We arrived back at around 5 p.m. and loaded our vehicles for home where we will power wash our vehicles. Thanks to our son, David, and his friends for such a lovely day.

Eureka, Trails in the Flint Hills
August 18, 2009 · Leave a Comment
On the 5th of September, Saturday, we are going to meet in El Dorado at the Wal-Mart parking lot at 9 AM to convoy to Eureka for some good ole rock, hill, dusty trail riding in the Flint Hills. It will be about a two-hour drive up and down the hills to a neat rock near Teterville and some old oil towns. We will stop here and there for a look-over and rest then back around the lake to town.
Be sure to bring water, sunscreen and a tow rope. We will probably eat at a restaurant for lunch before we take off. Please let me know who is coming so we can look out for you in El Dorado.

1953 M38A1 for $1,350
August 12, 2009 · 1 Comment
M38A1. Needs restoration. Fairly complete for a jeep that has been civilianized. Has lots of hard to find bolt on parts such as front seats, air cleaner, black out lights, wiper motors, 24 volt starter, generator, voltage regulator, distributor, etc.. Body will need some work. Roll bar is easily removed. 4 original M38/M38A1 wheels. Tires hold air. Not currently running. Great jeep for a restoration project! Dash data plate is nice and included. The numbers match the serial number plate behind passenger seat. Original OD paint is peaking through, hood numbers are there. Engine is suspected to be original, MD776xx.
There is some paperwork with jeep that indicates which military outfit the jeep was assigned to (Fort Hood, TX). $1,350.00. Click here for more info.
